Eighth Journey – The Great Lakes

My journey through the Great Lakes area went through Chicago and Cleveland.

The Great Lakes are the largest group of freshwater lakes on Earth by total area, and second-largest by total volume, containing 21% of the world’s surface fresh water by volume. Due to their sea-like characteristics (rolling waves, sustained winds, strong currents, great depths, and distant horizons) the five Great Lakes have also long been referred to as inland seas.

Cleveland is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio. The city is located on the southern shore of Lake Erie, across the U.S. maritime border with Canada. The city’s major cultural institutions include the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Cleveland Orchestra, Playhouse Square, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Known as “The Forest City” among many other nicknames, Cleveland serves as the center of the Cleveland Metroparks nature reserve system.
